Mana in Mahi – Strength in Work

Mana in Mahi – Strength in Work - helps employers to make a difference for young people so that they receive the training and careers they deserve in a range of industry sectors, including construction.

A wage subsidy is paid to employers, who are willing to hire a person, between the ages of 18-24, in receipt of a main benefit, and offer that person an industry training qualification, including apprenticeships.

The wage subsidy would be equivalent to the annual Jobseeker Support rate. 10 construction sector placements have been committed for the Phase One prototype programme which will test aspects of Mana in Mahi – Strength in Work.

This initiative is led by the Ministry of Social Development.
