Workforce Central Dunedin (WFCD)

WFCD provides the skills and labour needed to help complete the new Dunedin Hospital build whilst improving the lives of the local community.

The new $1.4bn Dunedin Hospital is New Zealand's largest ever infrastructure project. This project in conjunction with several other multimillion-dollar projects will see the demand for construction workers increase significantly over the following 8 years. Over the course of the hospital build, there is likely to be more than 10,000 construction workers who pass through the site with up to 1,000 workers on site during the peak activity period.

WFCD opened it's doors on September 1st 2020 and engages with the local community through schools and community groups, local industry and training providers to provide a connection to the hospital build project.

WFCD also engages with local labour providers with the view of providing labour for the build as and when it is needed. This work is focused on ensuring all jobseekers have access to the hospital build and that the main contractors have access to the local workforce.

WFCD's vision is to provide the skills and labour needed to help complete the new Dunedin hospital build whilst improving the lives of the local community by providing training, support, and access to this once in a lifetime project.
